CIVIL WAR (dir. Alex Garland) | DyVy Movie Club

Β
“Civil War” is a gripping dystopian thriller by British director Alex Garland, known for his thought-provoking and visually striking films. Set in a near-future America fractured by internal conflict, the film follows a group of war correspondents as they navigate the chaos, seeking to document history in the making. With its tense atmosphere, raw performances, and a chillingly realistic portrayal of modern warfare, Civil War raises urgent questions about truth, propaganda, and the role of journalism in turbulent times.

MULHOLLAND DRIVE (dir. David Lynch) | DyVy Movie Club

“Mulholland Drive” is a hypnotic neo-noir mystery by the legendary David Lynch, blending Hollywood glamour with nightmarish surrealism. What begins as a seemingly straightforward tale of an aspiring actress and a mysterious amnesiac in Los Angeles soon spirals into a labyrinth of shifting identities, eerie coincidences, and dreamlike distortions of reality. With haunting performances, an unforgettable atmosphere, and Lynch’s signature dream logic, Mulholland Drive is an enigmatic cinematic puzzle that lingers long after the credits roll.

😎we do NOT care about the language (although the majority of film will be in English)
😎we do NOT care about the location (although the main space will be ProEnglish Theatre Hub, simply because these guys are super cool and they give us the space for free)
😎we do NOT care about the genre: new wave, comedy, ganster films of Hong Kong, arthouse or zombie movies – everything will do. As long as it is good
😎we do NOT care about stability. Forget about “a movie club every Friday”. The days can be different, the venue might change. But it’ll still be DyVy Movie Club. You’ll know
🎬we DO care about the quality. The film are carefully selected not only by the facilitator’s whim by taking into account what this film gives to people and why it should be viewed
πŸ“½we DO care about the talking. Every film is preceded by the speech of a facilitator introducing you some cool facts and setting up the intrigue and followed by the discussion
πŸ“½we DO care about the ritual. A film is more than just a film. Expect a special dress code recommendation for every movie, special food and drink tgat set up the mood, special thing to do at the entrance. Every movie is a Universe. We’ll let you in
